For several years the Peer Tutoring program at LFHS has helped our students improve their understanding of academic materials, feel better about themselves, and achieve higher grades. Extensive research on the effectiveness of peer tutoring has shown that both the tutee and the tutor gain significant benefits from their commitment to the program. Peer tutors are “matched” with high school students in need of assistance in a particular academic area, or with organizational and study skills. Recently, the program was expanded to include local middle school students.

Students may sign up to be tutors by obtaining an application in the Social Studies Resource Center. Service hours are awarded for this activity. Students may sign up to be tutored through their teachers or their counselor.
