May 2008 HIGHLIGHTS
LFHS will be offering an outdoor environmental science camp for middle
school students at Elawa Farm, August 25-29, 2008. Incoming 6th through
8th graders at Deer Path Middle School and Lake Bluff Middle School are
eligible to participate in this new and unique summer camp. It will be
hosted at Elawa Farm, located on Waukegan Road in Lake Forest and will
utilize both the outdoor farm and the new science lab classroom located
in a restored building on the site. The goal of the camp is to nurture
an interest in the wonderful world of environmental science through the
study of differing ecosystems which inhabit the rural setting and the natural
habitat of the farm.
Instructors will be members of the LFHS Science Department and will
be assisted by high school students as part of a service learning project.
The fee, due June 20, is $190.00 and includes instruction, lab supplies,
snacks, and a camp
t-shirt.
