| Preparation
for the college application process begins when our students
enter as freshmen. Our desire is that by the time our students
head off to pursue their future, they are academically and socially
prepared for the challenges that will come their way. This is
a highly individualized process and counselors will work to make
sure that students keep as many options as possible open until
it comes time to narrow down to a smaller list of selected schools.
Our goal is to help our students find the right fit.
College Counselor The College Counselor is available to students and parents for consultation regarding the post high school planning process. The role exists as an additional layer of support for students, parents, and counselors. In addition the College Counselor serves as the district's contact with colleges and universities. Usually, juniors will meet with the college counselor after they have met with their assigned counselor. To schedule an appointment please call Carol Andersson in the College Career Resource Center 582-7342. During the fall priority is given to seniors for appointments. College
and Career Resource Center: This resource center is also home to our visiting college representatives. Juniors and Seniors are invited to attend to gather information regarding a school, as well as to meet the representatives. A schedule of the visiting representatives is posted outside of the CRC, and visit information is updated frequently and posted on the website under “College Visits.” Students must sign up 24 hrs. in advance in the college visit book located in the CRC, and must have permission from the classroom teacher before the student will be permitted to miss a class for the visit. Visits are usually approximately 45 minutes long, and applications and contact cards are usually provided for the students who attend.
