Idea Wins Award! The advisers and staff of the 2007-2008 Young Idea recently received the critique of the magazine from the National Scholastic Press Association. This year’s judge awarded the magazine 539 points out of a possible 500, the extra points being awarded because the magazine is totally student produced. The judge awarded Young Idea all five marks of distinction, Content; Writing and Editing; hotography, Art, Graphics and Typography; Layout; and Concept, and an All American rating, the highest possible. The judge especially enjoyed the concept and use of “Jabberwocky” as a theme and commented on the “blend of art, poetry, and prose” and on the “gifted staff.” Staff members include David Saginur, prose editor; Laura Briskman, poetry editor; Elizabeth Leider, art editor; Valerie Winton, managing editor; and Andrew Remissong, critique editor. |
