Picnic - Junior/Senior Play, Fall 2008
December 2008 HIGHLIGHTS
Real corn stalks and white picket fences connect the yards of two
two-story homes in Kansas City. This was the set designed and constructed
by the Technical Crew of 40 students for the Junior/Senior Fall Play.
Unique to LFHS is that the students actually do the design and not
just realize a design from faculty. All the crews are run by students
and overseen by David Miller. Ashley Andersen,
Technical Director; Set Design, Carolyn Pairitz; Lighting Designer,
Kevin Cotter, Jeffrey Niedermaier, Student Director, helped Joe Pulio,
Director, bring to life that the choices we make in life
have an effect on our happiness and our future, and on the happiness
of those we take along.
On October 23 and 25 the very talented Thespians of LFHS offered
us the opportunity to make a choice....live life in fear or accept
life in love. The play sends a clear and powerful message about our
desire to better our lives! The total cast of 11 included: Peter
Kehr as Alan Seymour (Paul Newman's 1953 Broadway debuting
role), Carter Petray as Hal Carter (Newman eventually
took over this role from Ralph Meeker on Broadway), Danielle
Springer as Madge Owens (Janice Mule on Broadway), Sarah
Hayes as Millie Owens,
Neil Phelps as Howard Beavens, Julia Hankins as
Flo Owens, Lain Kienzle as Mrs. Potts, Megan
Pratt as Rosemary Sydney, Hayley Koch,
and Stephanie Mardjetko as the group of unmarried
teachers, Woody Tauke as Bomber. None of this
love interest, or shall we say upset, would have been possible
without the behind the scenes students under the direction of the
new 2008-2009 Senior Leadership Team.
