Bright colors, friendly faces and big smiles filled the Lake Forest
Senior Citizen Center as our Junior students hosted an afternoon
to remember at the Senior Citizen Center on March 16. Decorated
with a St. Patrick’s Day theme,
it was heartwarming to witness generations come together to share stories
and laughter. Student Chairs Taylor Goddu and Ellie Graham organized over
60 students for their largest community service opportunity this year. The
students will be the first to tell you they were honored to be there and
in the height of their busy schedules, this was an enriching way to spend
time with their peers and new friends. Over 100 guests were greeted at the
door by our Juniors and then swept away to a delicious brunch and delightful
musical entertainment. David Head and Rohan Vashi served as masters of ceremony
providing an easy, relaxed atmosphere with lots of laughs. Thank you to our
talented performers. The LFHS Jazz Band musicians, Carter Petray, Will Neuberger,
Andrew Meland, Alyssa Loiacano, Alex Zervica, Mack Suhre, Will Kyriazis,
Matt Kalish, Stew Kerr, Peter Briggs, Peter Schmidt, Bobby Hollander, Tommy
Johnson, Eric Pickell, Andy Quinn, Alex Kroger, Gerard Warren, Cora Siebert
and Jeremy Berman. Soloists Casey Donovan, Carter Petray (vocals), Andrew
Koval (piano), Andrew Meland (trombone). And the LFHS Orchesis dancers, Hannah
Mattson, Amanda Mattson, Maria Callahan, Sydney Jeffery, Kira Fath, Emma
Fath, Suzanne Huszagh, Carolyn Huszagh, Mary Susan Bro, Kathryn Bro, Kathryn
Kriss, Natalie Binns and Catherine Athenson. For a complete list of all the
student volunteers please visit the LFHS website. The dance floor was overflowing
as guests and students shared a dance in a timeless manner. Many of the senior
guests commented on the “outstanding music and entertainment.” Such
an event could not have happened without the tremendous support of our parents.
A special thank you to Parent Chairs, Cheryl Killam, Cindy Long, and Susan
Svigos along with key helpers Susan Layton and Rita Meland. As well as to
the army of parents who donated all the drinks, homemade sandwiches and desserts,
plus all the other delicious goodies…thank you, thank you,
thank you!
