The highlight of the season came on Saturday, February 9, when
the Scouts claimed the conference championship at the NSC conference
meet by 2 1/2 points over conference rival, Libertyville. The
meet came down to the final relay, where LFHS had to beat Libertyville
to win the meet. Mitch Stoehr anchored the 400 Free relay and
overtook Libertyville's final swimmer with about 10 yards left in the
race for the championship over Libertyville. Season best were
experienced by all. The Scouts participate in the sectional
(state qualifying meet) meet this Saturday, February 16 at Vernon Hills
High School. The
meet begins at 1:00 p.m. Come and cheer the Scouts on!!!

Lake Forest Varsity 123 - Mundelein Varsity 62
Lake Forest JV 110 - Mundelein JV 65
This
was a fun meet, and many of the swimmers competed in events other
than their usual races. Coming
off a grueling Christmas break of training, it was great to see so many good
performances by so many team members. The whole team will be participating
in various invites this weekend: The
divers will be competing at the Hinsdale Invitational, JV will be competing
at the St. Charles Invite and Varsity wil be at the Trevian Relays. These
are good meets to judge where the team is in the middle of the season.

Swim Practice
Shivering in the dampness
chlorine stained air burns my lungs
as the cold tiled floor reminds me
my bed is empty
while the world sleeps.
The open space above still water shakes
with the reverberating sound of "encouragement."
I'm numb to what is says
but I know what it means--
Don't act like you feel
because showing weakness won't win conference. |

The Lake Forest Boy's Swimming and Diving Teams season has begun!! We
had a successful start against Vernon Hills on December 4, 2097. Varsity
won 136-47 and the JV team won 124-52. "We had some
really good swims considering it was our first meet of the season
and we had only been practicing for two weeks." Our
Varsity and JV teams are a little smaller this year after losing
a lot of seniors last year. "Our theme this year is,
it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size
of the fight in the dog." We may be small, but we are
mighty. Our team is led this year by captains Johnny Nelson,
Teddy Burns, Philip Zuska, and Erick Lipinski. "The
seniors have done a great job leading the team so far this year. They
have included the younger guys in everything they have done. I
feel very fortunate to have these seniors leading the team. The
team as a whole has been working incredibly hard as we head into
winter break training. I am really encouraged by the great
attitudes and the hard work." Lake Forest had a strong
performance in the Bronco Relays on December 8, 2007 at Barrington
High School. We had really good performances by the veterans
and it was a good meet for some of our younger swimmers to attend,
so they know what they have to look forward to.
