Newsbank Newspapers This database includes four newspapers including the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times, the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post.  The backfiles for these newspapers extend back to 1985 and are full test.

Over 1300 full test periodicals from 1994-present are covered. Updated weekly.

PerAbs (Found in FirstSearch)

Includes some 2,000 periodicals and transcripts from 80 radio and television shows. The index covers l987-presnet but many of the articles are not full text.

Encyclopedias

The Grolier Website (http://go.grolier.com) includes the impressive Americana Encyclopedia as well as two other titles; Grolier’s Multimedia Encyclopedia (Grades 8-12) and the New Book of Knowledge (Grades 5-9).

Health Source Plus is one of several databases included on the EBSCO site.  .Health Source Plus provides full text articles for over 270 health periodicals, some 1,000 health pamphlets, and 20 health reference books.

(Available on LFHS Computers Only)  This website includes Stedman's Medical Dictionary, a section on herbal medicine, a prescription drug category and an interaction section for drugs and food to create a multi-drug regimen.

Launched in 1997, this source may lead you to selected online publications, clearinghouses, databases, web sites, and support and self-help groups, as well as government agencies and not-for-profit organizations that provide reliable information.  

Mayo Health (http://www.mayohealth.org)

Provides authoritative answers to a variety of diseases and conditions.Information on the Mayo Clinic and general health information is also included.  

Center for Disease Control(http://www.cdc.gov/)

The Center for Disease Control provides outstanding information on health topics, data and statistics, as well as traveler’s health and recommendations regarding other health related sites.  

NLM Dirline(http://dirline.nlm.nih.gov)

A comprehensive database designed to find organizations associated with health topics, diseases and conditions.  

NLM Medline Plus(http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/)

This service of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) includes information on Health Topics, Drug Information, and Directories for finding health professionals and hospitals, and links to other resources.
