| Madame Sperling and sixteen French students traveled to Québec
City and Montréal in June. It was a great opportunity for
the students to speak and hear French, even though the Québecois
accent can be difficult to understand! The group arrived in the second
largest French speaking city in the world, Montréal, and toured
the Old City, Notre Dame Basilica, Mont Royal, the Olympic Stadium,
and the well-know Underground City. The history of Québec
was brought to life during the visits to the Citadel, the Plaines
d’Abraham, and the Musée de la Civilisation in Québec
City. Everyone sampled local cuisine and enjoyed the authentic Québecois
meals. One evening was spent at a Cabane à Sucre where the
students learned how maple syrup is made. They made their own maple
butter and maple taffy and danced to québecois folk music.
It was a wonderful way to start the summer. |
